Im on my last day of ownership with my first 8X - have been HTC's guinea pig for a month. Any fixes would be appreciated. It got to point where the phone was constantly looking for the sim card leaving me with a phone I couldn't make phone calls with... I did exactly this with a small piece of scotch tape and haven’t had the problem happen since! I don't remember having the problem immediately out of the box either, so time will tell, but I expect to see the issue within a few days if it's coming back. I got the idea for the fix initially from reading about this same problem for some HTC android devices.
